Biological Warfare: What Every Writer Needs to Know

Biological warfare is more than Anthrax. There is a host of other infectious bacteria, toxins, and microorganisms that can be used to wreak havoc on humans. The Centers for Disease Control classifies biological toxins into classes A, B, or C according to their pathogenicity, and their disease-causing qualities in humans. There are at present about 39 identified infectious agents that can be used as biological weapons. This class will teach you what these toxins are, how they’re classified by the CDC, and how they can be used as terroristic weapons  You’ll get the information you need for your story about what your hero/heroine needs to know to disable them.

BIO

Nanci Race was born in a small city in Western, Massachusetts, to a middle-class family of Native American descent. When she was young, her family moved to the area known as The Berkshires, also in Western Massachusetts. She began writing at a young age and won contests for her poetry when she was in middle school. Although she was encouraged to write by her English teacher, she pursued a career in nursing. Fast forward many years when taking a hiatus from nursing Nanci became the editor of a magazine on the arts. That led to a BA degree in Creative Writing and Literature which she started at Southern Vermont College. After being dually enrolled in Berkshire Community College and Charter Oak State College, two and a half years after starting her journey, she graduated from Charter Oak State in Connecticut. Nanci returned to nursing for several years but also worked on her writing. Many years after completing her BA, she returned to school and within two years had completed her Master of Fine Arts Degree with a concentration in Writing at Lindenwood University in St. Charles Missouri. These days, Nanci is retired from over forty years of nursing and loves spending time with her family, particularly attending her grandchildren’s sporting events with her husband. She is an avid sewist, having spent several years as co-owner of a sewing/tailoring store. In addition to sewing and reading, she enjoys almost all needlearts and travels whenever possible. Nanci currently has her first book, Code Blue Murder available on Kindle. She also has stories on the Kindle Vella platform. Nanci is currently working on her second book. She is the President of Outreach International Writers, inc. and is a member of Romance Writers of America. She has served as president of RWA’s mystery and suspense chapter, KOD. She is a member of Contemporary Romance Writers and a past President of Capital Region RWA.
